  In between sleep and Death

by
John Di Rosa

I stand by idly
and watch the seconds
and hear the heart beats
and count the breaths
in between sleep
and death
Volumes of ages
pass my hearth
in mere seconds
and I feel the years
cut loose from memory
and draw sorrowful tears
solitude weighs heavy
long thought lost memories
surface for a glimpse
quickly dispel like mist
and take with them
my reason to exist
