Fitz-James O’Brien
Author (1828–1862)
Born in Ireland, O’Brien came to the United States in his early 20s. He became a great favorite in the magazines, writing such stories as “The Diamond Lens” and “What was It?” At the outbreak of the American Civil War, he enlisted with the Union Army and died on April 6th in Cumberland, Maryland. |
